The Great African Market Experience was founded by four African entrepreneurs based in Montgomery County, Maryland.

What began as a holiday market quickly revealed something deeper — a need for a curated, high-quality marketplace that centers African excellence while welcoming the broader community.

The original concept was envisioned in 2017, inspired by the lived experiences of African entrepreneurs navigating new environments while working to rebuild their businesses, identities, and networks. Years later, in 2025, that vision found its moment.
What began as conversations among women entrepreneurs, each at different stages of building their businesses quickly evolved into something greater than any single individual’s need. There was a shared recognition that the community needed more than isolated exhibitions. It needed a true marketplace. A platform. A gathering place.
Together, the founding team came together, combining vision, courage, and collective effort to bring The G.A.M.E. to life.
